Gosh darn it - WHERE IS SPRING???

I know, I know.... February has only just begun and here I am complaining about the weather in New England. But, do any of you know how hard it is to pack three little ones up and take them out to play in what feels like sub-zero temperatures? Or the price of not taking them out at all only to have them pig-piled in my living room fighting over some random McDonald's toy from 5 years ago? So, yes, I am a little cranky that the weather is a little chilly (or just down right FREEZING!). I am even more cranky that the cold weather makes my kids cranky, whiney, clingy, and absolutely nasty to each other.... ahh, the joys of mommy-hood in the winter!

In the mean time, we are gearing up for Valentine's day, and Cassie has been enjoying some fun card making craft activities (hell, anything that involves scissors and glue sticks will keep her occupied for hours), and although the twins would like to join in and help out, we have found that all they really want to do is eat the glue stick and write on each other with the markers.

Other than craft activities, we basically spend the remainder of the day peeling the twins off of one another, be it from hitting, pulling, tugging, pushing, hair pulling, screaming, and any other physical motion that allows someone to take a toy from someone else. We really are surprised at how physical the two of them are and hope that it is something that will tone itself down as they increase in their language skills (to at least scream what they want rather than just some high pitched screech) or until one of them realizes the power of biting (seriously, thank GOODNESS neither of them has figured out or used biting during the heat of an argument).

So .... we will continue to hope that the warmer weather moves in sooner than later, and that I can find duplicates of some of the toys that we have here to mellow out the fighting! In the mean time, we hope that everyone is staying VERY warm!!!

Okay....

Time to hop back on the blogging wagon!!

Phew have things been crazy here with the holidays and all that goes on with raising 3 toddlers; but hopefully things have settled down enough for me to get back to keeping a better account of all that goes on here. Not to mention that there are definitely some funny moments in the making that I would like to get to sharing again. So here is t0 2010 and lots more of amazing memories!

Happy Halloween ABC Kids!

I can not believe that it is November 1st today.

Some times I feel like the days go by too slowly, but overall time is going by WAY too quickly!

It was so exciting this year to finally have Cassie understand and be thrilled about 'trick or treating' and wearing a costome, it gives a glimpse of how wonderful it is going to be when all three of the kids are into dressing up. As you can see from the photos below, Cassie was a fairy princess, a costume that I sewed for her from fabric she picked out at the store. It was pretty amazing to see her fly out of the house and go running down the street from house to house; and it also took her about a block and a half before she completely petered out and needed to be carried the rest of the way.

The twins, on the other hand, were just along for the ride. Brooklyn was a peacock (a costume we had from when Cassie was the same age 2 years ago), and LOVED the freedom of being able to wander from house to house or in the middle of the street at her own will. It wasn't until the end of the block that she realized that if she went to doors, they would actually hand her candy! Thus she would start to walk away and then turn and run back to the door to get more, it was quite comical. Austin was a kangaroo who just wanted to pull the wagon or analyze the glow sticks and the flashlight - it's nice to have one calm one of the bunch!

Lots of Firsts

This post will be packed with photos, as I just uploaded over 100 photos of the last few weeks (and honestly, this is about a quarter of what I actually took!). We have been so busy enjoying the last few days of summer and the first day of fall that is has been so hard not to take so many photos. Cassie has taken very well to preschool and seems to enjoy the time away from home in her own social environment. I have been taking the advantage of the lighter load in the stroller and enjoying some longer runs with the twins. I am looking forward the perfect fall weather continuing as I love the cooler weather to run in. I will leave you with many photos, that will summarize our activities far better than I will. :)

Cassie starts preschool!!!

I just can not believe that time has flown by so quickly, and our oldest daughter is already going to preschool. It feels like yesterday that I was pregnant and getting excited to meet our new baby, and then we were bringing home this tiny little six pound baby girl to join our lives. And now, three years later, we are watching our little girl start her first preschool.

This past Thursday was Cassie's first day, for her to meet her teacher and her new classmates. It was an hour long class called "visiting day" where parents stayed with their children to learn the daily schedule, get a tour of the building and facilities, and help with the new adjustment to preschool. Cassie was pretty tearful on her way to the school, which I really think was because she had gone to bed a little late the night before and was still tired. She had wanted to bring her play makeup to class with her and was pretty disappointed that she had to leave it behind. She was a little tentative as we arrived at school, and stayed close to Dawn and I as we waited in line to meet her teacher. Once inside her classroom, she headed to the home play area with three other children and pretty much forgot that Dawn and I were even there, no tears or fusses! We let her play a bit and then headed with the assistant teacher to see the gym area where Cassie loved running around with her new classmates, and seemed to really enjoy being there with other kids her age. After heading back to the classroom, all of the children sat down for a story from the teacher and then were dismissed. Cassie wanted to stay and play on the playground with some of her new friends, so we gave her a few minutes to play before heading home to relieve my sister who had been watching the twins for us so the we could enjoy seeing Cassie off to school together.

Tuesday will be Cassie's first day of school on her own, which will be only an hour long to help with the adjustment of the kids. I am really hoping that Tuesday goes as smoothly as Thursday went, as Cassie seemed so excited to be with other children and playing with new toys. Oh my how the the summer has flown by.....

I have just realized that the entire month of August is gone in a blink, and it is hard to believe that September is here already, and Cassie will be starting her first day of preschool in just 9 short days!

I chose the title for this post, because it seemed perfect for how amazing the last month has truly been, and a perfect reminder for how lucky we are to have such wonderful friends and family in our lives who continue to make this journey so much more rewarding. We finished up the month of August with a Christening for our three miracles at the Third Congregational Church in Middletown on Saturday August 22nd. Both Dawn's parents as well as her sister belong to the church and were excited that we had decided to have them blessed in the same church as my nieces. We chose to have them blessed on a Saturday with just our close family and two best friends, and followed up the ceremony with a picnic at our house. Dawn's mom did an amazing job making all of the food for our celebritory picnic, the weather was warm (okay, hot!) and sunny, and the kids were absolutely amazing, I don't think that Dawn and I could have asked for a better day. My cousin Brittany and her 3 year old son Lucas also made the trip from Syracuse, NY to join us for the weekend (and take wonderful pictures as well!!) which was an extra special treat for Cassie who loves playing with Lucas. As we both look back on Saturday's events, we realize how truly blessed we are for having such amazing family and friends in our lives, who have supported us so much in our journey of raising a family.

Yikes! I'm way behind!!!

Please can there be just 15 extra minutes in every day so that I can update my blog more???

Yeah right, who am I kidding - if I had an extra 15 minutes I'd be using it for sleep and still begging for 15 minutes more... ah well.

The update from our neck of the woods - this has been the rainiest summer ever! Please, no more rain! However, despite all of the rain, we are still managing to get out and have a fun time, going to the pool at Addison Park in Glastonbury, my sister's pool club, the S. Windsor pool, and yes, one silly-definitely won't ever return-what the hell were we thinking- trip to the beach.

As of about 2 weeks ago, I would consider both Brooklyn and Austin to officially be walkers, although Brooklyn is using her two legs far more than her brother is. Austin still prefers to cruise as much as possible, but will take very slow unsteady steps when necessary. Brooklyn, non the other hand, has pretty much progressed to wanting to walk as much as possible, which is great for her little knees that have been so scratched up from all the speed crawling she does. She still does know that she is much faster at crawling, and when she really has her eyes on something, she drops to all fours and flies across the floor, it cracks us up.

Cassie has become out little story teller, who seems to love telling us about everything that happens throughout the day by starting everything with "one night," that too cracks us up. Cupcake has settled in very well (and is dive bombing me as I type this) and has become a big fan of teasing the twins and then running to hide, but still trying to play with them with her paws, I think that she knows she can get the better of them.

That is some of the basics from here, I am sure that there is far more to talk about, but I am way to tired to remember half of it (I know, big shock), and know that you all are just here for the photos anyway - ; )

Here are a few photos from our long weekend to New Hampshire on July 10, 11, and 12, we went up so that I could do the Black Fly Triathlon with my friend Kris. We had a really great weekend, the weather was wonderful, the race was amazing (a 4 mile cycling time trial on Friday night, an international distance triathlon on Saturday morning and a spring distance triathlon on Sunday morning). The little beach was right outside our condo practically, and I think that Cassie really loved playing there. We also met another family, who happen to live only about 25 minutes from us, who are also two mommies raising two cute little girls. Cassie really hit it off with their girls, and we have been able to see them again since returning from the race. I am definitely looking forward to going back to do this race again next year.

One week ago, on Cassie's third birthday, we asked her if she would trade in her binkies.......

(yes, I counted 31 in this pile, and I am sure that we missed a few that we will slowly find around the house)

...... for a kitten. As you can see from the photos below, Cassie has done a great job at trading in her most prized possession, despite a few tearful nights, on the whole we are very happy to finally have gotten rid of the pacifier.

Who replaced our babies with toddlers?

I can't believe that our twins are turning one in less than two days - my goodness - where has the last year gone??? We now have these very mobile little people in our house with completely different personalities that fill my day with absolute bliss.

We will be spending this week preparing for our big birthday bash that we are having on Sunday to celebrate the twins first birthday as well as Cassie's third birthday (and wow, I can't believe that she has been in our lives for three years!!!). Friday we also have Cassie's gymnastics show, so I know that I will have lots of pictures from that, and may need to post them before all the birthday party photos go up early next week.

Is it really June?!?!

What the heck happened to May????

Well, here is the re-cap on the end of May, and everything that we have been up to since....

On May 19th Austin went in to have tubes put in his ears, the procedure was very fast, about 10 minutes, and after a nice hour of napping on the way home in the car, Austin was back to himself, playing, laughing, and giggling. And I must admit, that until he just got sick again, for about a week and a half Austin was a completely different baby! Mr. Fussypants was totally gone and replaced with this wonderful, giggly, smiley, sleeping through the night in his own bed sort of baby - we have been loving it!!

So.... the day after Austin's tube surgery, we packed up the kids and headed west, for a fun filled trip to Ohio to see our friends Laurie, Betsy, and their son Henry (Laurie and I met while pregnant with Henry and Cassie, and we have been close friends since). On Wednesday, we stopped for a quick lunch in Schenectady, NY to see my grandparents, and then continued onto Syracuse for a stay in a hotel and to meet up with three of my cousins and their little ones. Cassie and the twins had a blast with their second cousins in the room and in the hotel swimming pool.

After a restful night, we then packed the kids and the car again to finish our drive to Cleveland, Ohio. As you can see, the kids were really restless to get there:

We all had an amazing time in Cleveland with our friends - taking the kids to the kiddie park, to an indoor inflatable place for Henry's birthday, to the Zoo, and one night even having some amazing babysitters to let Dawn and I have a night out - kidless!! WE are defilitely looking forward to going back again, as there were so many things that we wanted to do and didn't get to. Our hosts, Laurie, Betsy, and Henry, were absolutely amazing all weekend, opening up their house to us, and helping us out so much the whole time we were there; we are so grateful to have such amazing friends. We left Cleveland to come home on Memorial Day Monday, in the afternoon, and made a few pit-stops before getting back home at midnight.

Unfortunately since returning from Ohio, the kids have managed to get sick again, Austin came down with a virus called Roseola, with a nice high fever that lasted a couple of days, followed by a wonderful rash, while cassie had the same virus leave some pretty nasty blisters on the inside of her mouth. Brooklyn has been her usual self of getting into EVERY THING!!! Here is hoping we can stay healthy until the birthdays - holy cow, are our twins really turning 1 in two weeks!!!!

Yup.... it really has been nearly 4 weeks since I have been on here to update it - SORRY! Not to mention that I have tons of news and a billion photos to put on here, so I may have to split it into a few posts so that you can truly enjoy them all!

Well, in the past 4 weeks, we have endured yet another major round of ear infections with Mr. Austin, who, bless his heart, has just been miserable. We were finally able to get him into an Ear Nose and Throat specialist who is putting tubes in his ears on the 19th of May, so please send us your thoughts for a speedy recovery, and an end to the ear infections.

Little Miss Brooklyn has not only finally started crawling, but speed crawling at that, as she is now going from one place to another at high speed. She has definitely figured out how to pull to a stand on nearly everything as well, and has no problem cruising around everything, so I have a feeling that walking may be just around the corner as well - yikes! Austin is just a little behind, and we noticed tonight was finally starting to really crawl too, so he should be speeding right behind her by the end of the week!

Cassie has been so much fun lately, and saying the funnies things. She has become such a conversationalist lately, that it is nearly impossible to get her to be quiet! She is really doing well at gymnastics, and is asking to go even on the days that we do not have class. She is also starting to look at the class that has other kids her age with just instructors and no mommies and get interested in what they are doing, which makes me feel confident that she will be okay in that class this summer. She has also started playing preschool soccer on Saturdays, which is a little hard for her because she has been a little shy, but I think that the more we go, the better it will get.

Dawn and I are still trying to recover from the 2 weeks of little to no sleep that we had. Dawn is heading into the last week of preparation for a charity golf tournament that she runs for three children who lost their mom that is this Saturday, and I am in the longest training weeks for the half Ironman that is the first weekend of June (yikes, only 4 more weeks of training time!). Not to mention, that we are getting excited for our Memorial Day Weekend trip to see our best friends in Cleveland, Ohio to celebrate their son Henry's 3rd birthday.

The pictures below were taken just over a week ago, our first set of professional photos with the babies and Cassie. It was a tough photo shoot, because it took too long, but the photos turned out great. Seeing them all dressed up made me realize that I am the luckiest person on earth to have such wonderful children and an amazing wife.

The Easter Recap

Per usual, we have been lacking sleep in this house....something we should be used to by now??

Easter was a GREAT day, as Cassie woke up to the Easter bunny having hid the 18 eggs that we colored the night before, and he left her a huge basket full of goodies!! We were even more surprised to see that a very special neighbor had also played Easter bunny and put a bunch of plastic eggs in our front flower bed and yard, it was amazing surprise for all of us. The morning continued with a quick trip to Mimi and Papa's house to drop off some gifts and say hello (and of course get another goodie filled basket for the kids!). My sister and her family came over at about 10:30 to enjoy an Easter brunch of home made breakfast pizza, coffee cake, and other great goodies. Earlier in the morning I hid about 60 plastic filled eggs, and while we waited for it to warm up enough for the kids to go find them, my sister and I went out of a 9 mile run! There are a bunch of pictures from the weekend (as well as a few more), but these are only just a handful of the billion that I captured, you can see all of the ones that I put in the Easter album by clicking at the link on the bottom.

We managed to end the weekend with a round of colds for the entire family - what fun!! Unfortunately Austin and I still seem to be battling the worst of it, and on Tuesday we took him to the pediatrician to find that his extreme fussiness was from having another pair of ear infections, one of which had ruptured and was leaking fluid - ug!!! He seems in better spirits this morning for the first time in what feels like forever. This coming weekend is supposed to be in the 80's here (how excited are we!!!!) so I am sure that I will have the camera out to capture all of our outdoor fun!!!

I have been snapping millions of photos these days, as all three of our little ones are in rare form - I just love the holidays!!!! I am happy to say that we are all pretty healthy and the twins are FINALLY starting to sleep more at night - thank goodness!!! A Mini-Vacation

This post is definitely a little late, as recovery from our long weekend away has been pretty tough. It seems that the kids needed some extra time to get back on schedule, as all three of them were up multiple times all night for the rest of the week, which was just no fun for the moms.

Last weekend we took a 5 day weekend to take a trip to visit family in both Albany and Syracuse, New York. We started out on Thursday with a stop in to see my grandparents in Albany, with all the kids being in the best moods for the visit. We took some great pictures with great granny and her great-grandbabies! We headed to Syracuse after a brief visit, for a fun filled weekend with my aunts and cousins. Below are a few of the 375 photos that I took of the weekend (yes, the camera was just snapping away!!), and a few others from before we left....

Monumental Milestones!

I thought that I would post the major milestones that have happened in our house in the last couple of days....

Austin cut his first tooth, a bottom one, on Friday - horray!

Brooklyn got up on all fours for longer than a second, and actually started rocking back and fourth on Friday as well, looks like we need to be aware of her being mobile soon!

And little Miss Cassie had her 3rd gymnastics class on Friday and got to help the instructor demonstrate on of the circuits, she was soooo excited!

It has been a wonderful weekend here, and we are gearing up for cousin Jake's 2nd birthday tomorrow, and maybe even a week of some great weather to play outside! Horray!

Gearing up for St. Patty's day

Oh my, has it really been this long since I have posted? Yikes! My only excuse is that we are our usual tired selves, and by the time I sit down at night to attempt at a post, I am just to tired!

We have all finally started to clear up from the persistent colds that have attacked this house, and the beautiful spring weather this past weekend really helped to get the windows open and the fresh air flowing! Cassie has been busy with gymnastics and attending reading time at Barnes and Noble. The twins are continuing to do their usual exciting fun things, although as you will see, little Brookie is getting closer and closer to figuring out how to crawl, and yes, Austin continues to enjoy just hanging out.

I have decided to finally make the commitment to getting back into racing, and have decided to prepare for a half Ironman race in June. Although I am very worried about having enough training time with the demands of these little ones (or frankly just getting enough sleep!), I've been doing a lot of base training for the last 6 weeks to see if it is doable, and I think that it is. With the beautiful weather this weekend, I had an amazing 10 mile run, which was really the deciding factor for me in racing, so I will keep you posted on the details as it gets closer.

Happy Valentine's Day Mr. Stomach Bug

All I can say is that I am glad that we are finally on the up-side of this one! Phew!!! We had a very fun and exciting Valentine's day weekend that was unfortunately followed by the worst stomach virus ever. I was fortunate to be the one to start with it, followed a few hours later by Cassie, who Dawn nicely tucked into bed with my surrounded in towels and a bucket. It was really the longest night EVER, and the first time I realized just how awful it is to be ridiculously sick and have to take care of a toddler at the same time, no fun. Unfortunately Dawn followed closely behind by about 3am, and of course the babies shortly thereafter. I feel like to day is the first day that we all have gotten some energy back and actually started eating again, just in time to conquer the mountain of laundry from this whole ordeal. The nice thing is that this little bug has also seemingly left us all with a wonderful head/chest cold to with with the cleansing...can it just be spring already???? It is going to be really hard to keep the photos in this post to a minimum.... as Dawn surprised us with the new Canon Rebel SLR camera that we have been looking at. Of course we have spent the beginning of the week just playing around with it and taking some random photos, but the quality of them is just amazing (as you will see in some of the ones I am posting today), and I am even more amazed as just how blue Cassie's eyes are with this camera.

Aside from being my usual photo taking self, we have been trying to stay busy going to indoor play-places for Cassie to get some good exercise time, as I think the bitter cold winter temperatures that are keeping us inside are starting to get to her. It was nice this weekend to finally break out of the 20's and have some really great outdoor playtime, she was in heaven. The twins are amazing us with something new that they do everyday, and are now sitting up unassisted (with pillows behind them just in case) to play with their toys - and each other - and really loving it. Austin has been on his second round of antibiotics to get rid of the 3 week long ear infection, with Brooklyn just starting one yesterday for her bout of double ear infections. I will be SO happy with spring comes to get rid of all these germs!

Just a quick photo update....

We are continuing to experience major sleep issues in this house, and every night wonder if "tonight will be the night where everyone will sleep..." the answer is no. Dawn and I are definitely on the completely exhausted side and are getting frustrated...good thing that these little faces cheer us up (although no so much at 2 am).

I just couldn't resist taking some photos this morning (okay, and last night, and all day yesterday, someone stop me please!!!). Personalities are in full swing here lately, as we are finding that little Brooklyn has a voice, and isn't afraid to use it! Austin, unfortunately, is in the middle of round two of the double ear infections (ug!) and of course Cassie is her usual energetic self (thank goodness for the indoor playground that has been keeping us busy!).

Is it Spring yet???

And the snow continues to fall around us.... dropping nearly another foot yesterday and last night. Cassie, of course, is completely in heaven, and had fun playing out in it again today, despite the chilly temperatures. The rest of us are just trying to stay toasty inside, next to the fire... enjoying all of our silly twin moments....except the perpetual night time crying, when is all that going to stop??!! We hope that everyone is staying warm!

Okay, so I need to get better about adding photos every week, heaven's knows I take enough of them! And yes, I have been just snap, snap, snapping away with my new camera, trying to capture every moment. Welcome to the New Year

So, I am happy to say that all 4 baby ears have cleared of their infections (phew, what a week it was!)...and hopefully everyone is now on the mend? (yeah right, I hear Dawn coughing in the distance...).

I have also been getting to know my new camera (thanks kids...it's perfect, how did you know that Mommy wanted a new one!!), so here are just a few shots (and of course a few extras from, oh say, a couple years ago!) of the kids...

Christmas 2008....and a few others

Never a dull moment here....

As with most holidays, this one followed true fashion with illness plaguing our family; both twins are now on antibiotics for double ear infections, while Cassie continues to recover from her pre-Christmas cold. Although chaos, Christmas day was full of excitement (which was really too much for the toddler) and lots of gifts, We spent our morning opening a few presents at our house and then headed to my sister's house to have breakfast and enjoy swapping gifts with my sister's family and dad until early afternoon. With Cassie beyond exhaustion we headed home to relax for the rest of the day. The last few days have been great recovery of simply relaxing, enjoying out time together and nursing out little ones back to health...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I can't believe that Thanksgiving is over already!!

Although I didn't take any Thanksgiving day pictures (I know, not like me at all!), we did have an amazing holiday - as my aunt and cousins from Syracuse, NY drove over to spend the day with us. We started the day with the Manchester Road Race, a 4.75 mile road race that about 12,000 other runners enjoyed with us! And this was followed by a great dinner out at my sister's house were the best part was just watching all the kids enjoy themselves!

We spent the rest of Thanksgiving weekend doing a little internet Christmas shopping, and going to pick out our tree and decorate the house. Cassie is starting to understand a little of what this holiday is all about, and has taken to watching Rudolf and the cartoon version of the Grinch. We think that she understand who Santa is and that he is going to come and bring her presents, I think that we are truly entering into the best years of the holiday season!

Cassie's first trip to the Children's Museum

I had the opportunity to have some one on one time with just Cassie today, as mama stayed home with the twins so that I could take Cassie to the Children's Museum here for the first time. We spent a little over two hours there roaming from room to room having all sorts of fun learning and seeing new things. Overall all, I think that her favorite place was the "mining" activity, but of course, anything with water will keep her captivated! Here are a few photos from our great day!

Wow, I can't believe how fast this cold weather has taken over! We've been forced to do some playing inside these days, as the temperatures outside have made it difficult to get out with all three kids, but we've been doing our best to keep Cassie busy.

The twins have really begun to be more interactive, both with each other and with Cassie, and Cassie is really loving talking to them and trying to play as well, it is so cute to see what a great big sister she is becoming.

Austin is continuing to have some stomach issues that we are having difficulty resolving. What we thought was just constipation and painful gas is giving us an indication of something a little more complicated than that. Right now the formula changes, zantak, and karo syrup don't seem to be helping much. We are seeing a pediatric GI specialist on Monday to hopefully get some more answers. But, in the meantime, we decided to give both the babies some oatmeal (time for real food!!!) and mixed some prunes in with Austin's to help thing move along!

Of course I have been busy snapping lots of photos....just not getting a chance to add them to the blog. We can't believe how fast the twins are growing, and Cassie too! We've been trying to stay busy here, enjoying some time outside before the weather really turns cold. The twins are much more active, enjoying their jumpy toys and bragging at lots of things. It's hard to believe that they are already 5 months old today!!!

Right now all three seem to have some sniffles, but nothing major. Austin is still having some issues with his belly that we are hoping will finally clear up with some new formula, he really has been so uncomfortable with lots of stinky toots!

We hope that everyone is doing well and gearing up for the holiday season!

The belated Halloween post...

This has been one long week, let me tell you....

It started out with a knock down, drag out cold for mommy (a.k.a. me) that really kept me in the ozone all week. It was wrapped up with a trip to the dentist on Friday for a cleaning, cavity filling, and extraction - no fun at all! So needless to say, I have been a little two out of sorts to get the Halloween photos up for you all to see.

I must admit, though, that we had the greatest time Halloween night with little Cassie (okay, the twins were fun too, but the slept through the whole thing!). It started with a quick walk up the street to our babysitter Moireen's house, where she took Cassie to a few of her neighbor's houses to break her in, and let me tell you, Cassie caught on pretty quickly:

1. ring door bell

2. stand and smile

3. be coaxed to say 'trick or treat'

4. say 'treat'

5. get candy

Yup, once she realized that candy was involved....it was all over! By the time we got back to our house to do the trip around our block, Cassie was nearly running from door to door! Let me tell you how cute it was to watch a kangaroo run from the back. We shared the night with our neighbors, so Cassie, Jackson and Jaiden all went door to door together. I'll post a few of those photos soon as well...here are some in their costumes:

Cassie's Halloween Party...

Tonight was the annual Halloween bash at Kindercare, so Cassie dressed in her costume and joined in the fun; she had such a fun time that we actually stayed until 9:00 pm, nearly an hour and a half past her bed time! She was such a trooper, and really loved the dancing!

One Perfect Weekend...

So much going on....

This past weekend we went on our first "mini-vacation" since the twins were born, and headed to up-state New York to meet a special family I met on-line 3 years ago when I was pregnant for Cassie. We drove to the finger lakes on Friday to meet the Campbells - Laurie, Betsy, and Henry. We took the kids apple picking and to a pumpkin patch on Saturday and did a lot of relaxing together. We think that the kids had a good time, and us adults had a great time as well. Of course, here are the photos that you are all really interested in anyway!

Congratulations TT Trish!!!

Today we went to yell and scream for my sister Trish who ran the Hartford Marathon. Her goal: break 4 hours and qualify for the Boston Marathon.... We are so proud of her awesome finish in 3:43:34 qualifying to compete in the Boston Marathon next April!! Yeah Auntie!!!

A trip to see Great Granny

We went last weekend to visit Great Granny and Grandpa Gordon in Albany last weekend, and despite the chaos of traveling with three little ones, we all had a great time. Okay...sorry...no new photos.... (yeah, I know, that is why you are here...).

It has been a long and, well, frankly, sleepless week with our little ones. At the beginning of the week all three of the came down with HFM (hand/foot/mouth virus)! The twins had a very mild case, and really were unaffected, just wanting a little more cuddle time than usual. Cassie, on the other hand, was a total different story... this is her second time with the virus since June, and this time was even worse. She had so many blisters on her tongue, it barely fit in her mouth! Despite most of our efforts, she was very uncomfortable, hungry, and tired, and really didn't sleep much at all during the night. I am hoping tonight that she gets some sleep, because both Dawn and I are just plain exhausted. And I hear the twins paging me to be fed their late night snack! We have some great plans for the weekend, so not to worry, there will be new photos soon!

Well, the long awaited smile from little Miss Brooklyn is out in full force, melting our hearts every time she flashes it; while Mr. Austin, of course, continues to smile at anything and everything all day long! We are proud to say that Cassie is doing an amazing job potty training, and has nearly successfully transitioned to wearing big girl underwear! We are so proud. As usual, my camera is just click, click, clicking away! The twins are growing like weeds (I know, they are supposed to do that) and showing some more of their unique personalities. Brooklyn has finally started showing us her beautiful smile, and let me tell you how much it melts our hearts, maybe because it is appearing nearly a month after Austin's? Cassie continues to love both of them so much, and is constantly asking to "help me?" - which really means, 'Can I help you?' We are just loving them all so much!!

It seems lately like every time I sit down to add an update and some photos....someone needs attention! There have been a few touchy moments in the last week or so regarding meltdowns from all three at the same time, and let me tell you what a challenge that is! But, those have been few and far between, and we really are just enjoying all three of our little wonders as they continue to grow and discover.

Last week we enjoyed a little mini-vacation, with a day trip to our local Aquarium followed by a day trip to a small Amusement Park with a beach and a little sprinkler park. My sister and her two boys (Zach and Jake) tagged along with us and all the kids (twins too???) had a great time. Here are a few photos from our outings:

Well, the twins have both managed to catch their first cold....much earlier than I wanted, but both are fairing pretty well and have really only had the congestion no fever or ear infections so far. Austin has been full of smiles and almost giggles, while Brooklyn continues to be stingy with the smiles, maybe flashing one a day. They are also starting to be awake more during the day, which is nice to see them interested in the world around them.

On Sunday we celebrated Dawn's mom's birthday with a little get-together at her brother's house. Cassie, as usual, was in rare form, and for the first time, did some solo swimming with some armies and a tube! She was so excited and really started doing some great kicking for the first time. I managed to get some amazing shots of her actually wearing a dress (rather rare for a kid who's as active as she is).

This week we are taking a few family day trips, to the Aquarium and the amusement park, so keep an eye out for a recap of our week!

Who knew this blogging thing would be so addictive!!

Here are the photos from this past weekend, so that the blog is officially up-to-date! We had a wonderful weekend actually, taking the kids down to the Outlets in Westbrook, CT, followed by a trip to Bills Seafood for dinner so that Cassie could enjoy feeding the seagulls and ducks while feeding herself! I think that the twins are getting used to being shuttled around!

Sunday was a great day to stay home and cook out on the grill with Dawn's parents and my sister and her boys. It's hard to believe that it is August already and that Labor Day is just around the corner, ahhh!!!

Of course, here are a few more pictures of Cassie, she is just so photogenic lately! After a full day indoor activities because of the rain, the sun finally came out for us to enjoy the backyard...and beyond!

Miss Cassie is bound and determined that she is going to pick my tomatoes before they are ripe, is this a future gardener in the making? After tomato picking, we took her to the fairy landing on the CT river, about 3 miles from our house, to feed the ducks and get ice cream, the perfect ending to any summer day, right!!!

Well, Austin and Brooklyn are starting to act more and more like regular babies these days (rather than the perpetual sleeping preemies!) and spending more time awake staring at us. They are still doing their share of sleeping, and to make their mommies happy, aside from the feeding, they are not awake at night, yay!

Cassie is still being the same great sister. She refers to them as "my pink" and "my blue" and when she wants to hold one, she will sit nicely on the couch, and look at us and say "mommy, my blue??" and then point to her lap and hold her arms out to hold him. It is the cutest thing ever! She is ever so gentle when she comes to kiss them on the head and hold their hands, it makes me realize how special having these babies is to all of us.

Just Another Day at the Beach

On Sunday August 3rd, we packed up the entire family for the first time to head off to a triathlon down in Niantic. I decided to join my dad in completing this year, something that we have not done together as a team; I would do the swim leg of 1/2 mile and he would do the 12 mile bike and 3.5 mile run. Auntie Kris also joined in the racing festivities (with an amazing PR), and Aunties Terri, Robin, Diane, and Sherri came to spectate as tell (a.k.a. help Dawn and Jenn watch 3 kids!).

The day was perfect for a triathlon, and my dad and I had a great time racing together. We decided to stay at the beach for the day and let Cassie enjoy the water, and the twins enjoy their usually sleeping endeavors! Here are a few photos from the relaxing part of the day:

So...it's time for a blog.....

As our lives have now been blessed with these three amazing miracles, I guess the best way to keep everyone informed and up-to-date with all of our progress, was to start the blog. How else can I share such a vast amount of information with a large number of individuals at the same time???

We really are so grateful to have such wonderful friends and family, that I'd like to share all of our special moments as they happen so that you too can enjoy our three wonderful children. Okay, and maybe also because I am getting to the point where I take photos daily that I just need to share and I'm running out of room in my email photo updates!

Hopefully I'll be able to find plenty of time to keep you all informed and loaded with lots of photos to keep your days bright!
